Welcome to Vida Breathworks! I’m Beth, a Functional Breathing Practitioner & Naturopath. I’ve spent the past 10 years helping people address and improve a wide range of symptoms. Dysfunctional breathing often goes unnoticed, but retraining your breath is one of the most profound shifts you can make for your health.

My approach is highly personalized to each and every individual; to ensure you have the most effective and empowered experience possible, and to ultimately provide relief of your symptoms and achievement of your health goals in the shortest time possible; and set you up for long term optimal health & wellbeing. My approach combines two of the world’s most respected, science-based breathing methodologies: The Buteyko Breathing Method and the Oxygen Advantage®. As an internationally certified instructor in both, I integrate these proven, science based techniques to help you achieve two things:
Wait... What is "Dysfunctional Breathing"?
It sounds dramatic, but it’s incredibly common. Simply put, most of us "over-breathe"; taking in more air than our bodies actually need. This is commonly triggered by chronic stress, which we all live with to some extend. When your breathing is dysfunctional, your nervous system will live in a constant state of alert, and your sleep will be less restorative; it also disrupts your blood chemistry, and reducing oxygen delivery to your cells. This is often a hidden root cause behind anxiety, poor sleep, digestive issues, hypertension, and constant fatigue.

The Buteyko Breathing method was developed by Russian medical scientist, Professor Konstantin Buteyko in the 1950s, and was endorsed by the Soviet Health Ministry in the mid 1980s.
The method quickly achieved significant anecdotal success for its ability to provide asthma sufferers with quick and sustained relief from symptoms, and a decrease in the need for both reliever and preventative medication. Various clinical trials have been conducted over the years, showing the effectiveness of the Buteyko Method for reducing symptoms, and the need for both reliever and preventative medication. Participants always must work with their doctor to ensure medications are reduced in the most appropriate way.
It is not well understood that snoring and sleep apnoea may be the result of a dysfunctional breathing pattern. Learning a breathing technique like Buteyko Breathing Method, may therefore effectively alleviate and manage the problem. The Buteyko Breathing Method restores healthy, functional breathing, and can therefore be very effective in improving snoring without the need for anti-snoring devices or surgery. Many clients (or their partners!) report a dramatic decrease in the snoring within the first week of implementing recommendations.
Additionally, many clients achieve significant improvements in their sleep quality, a reduction in sleep apnea episodes, and an improvement in their day time energy within the first week of their initial consultation. With continued commitment, this can effectively enhance health in many areas of life.
In our modern world, constant stress has pushed many of us into a state of permanent "high alert." If you struggle with chronic anxiety, a racing mind, or a nervous system that never feels truly safe, you know how exhausting it is to live in survival mode.
What many people don’t realize is the unbreakable loop between anxiety and the way we breathe.
Breaking the Cycle of Hyperventilation
When you are anxious, your breathing becomes fast and shallow. If you are "over-breathing" (chronic hyperventilation), your nervous system receives constant signals that you are in danger. This keeps you trapped in a cycle of physical tension, increased heart rate, and emotional overwhelm. While therapy and mindset work are invaluable, they often struggle to take hold if your biology is still signaling "danger" 20,000 times a day through your breath.
